Now we have an issue up on Twin Lake on the farside of Theodore Wirth Park
that involves a developer wanting to put 7 Million dollar homes on an
isthmus out there and make it a gated community - over there back by the
Courage Center. Besides a beautiful secluded lake to swim in, the water
feeds into Bassett Creek eventually and serves as part of a larger
eco-system that helps keep the waters all around the area cleaner. We are
fighting this development from happening although it sits in Golden
Valley's jurisdiction.
However, Lake Calhoun being sold. I missed the meeting this past
Wednesday. One never knows what I might have missed. However, in talking
to other commissioners since then no one told me we are planning to sell
Lake Calhoun. Now change the name back to it's Indian name - that I would
go for. Calhoun was a slave master I hear told. Sell it - probably "over
my dead body" - another stop the bulldozer battle. Just what I would need
in my life right now.
If anyone else hears about this let me know immediately, if not sooner.
