Just a quick note on this--- the park board races are non-partisan and
there will be no party designation on the ballot other than a parenthesis
behind a name that signifies an incumbent. In my 12 years there has hardly
ever been anything on the Park Board and endorsements or such. There has
actually been more attention this year than in the past. Not saying much huh!

And Steve has been following the Park Board for year's and I do think he
has printed some very good pieces on our activities. If people want more
details than they're getting maybe we should go to the televised version of
park board meetings. We investigated just that earlier this year and it
would cost of us a fortune to set it up but if you all want your taxpaying
dollars going to set up the Park Board room to also be a TV studio so be it
- I'll pass your input up for discussion during next year's budget, send me
an e-mail with your support!

In the meantime, the next time one will hear about park board commisioners
in the Star Trib will probably be the listings after filing and about Sept.
6,7,8 when they do their endorsements for the 31 offices in the city. Other
than that we will have to just wait and see - there are so many more
pressing things facing our citizens that are in the news. Not just PB but
probably other political stuff will be scant is my prediction. After all
in May and June people are planting their gardens and preparing their every
weekend of summer for the trips to the cabin and the lake and vacationing.
Believe it or not there is now a huge gap in which most citizens for the
next three months concerning politics in Minneapolis are out in the ozone.

Since there are 31 seats and probably at least 60-70 candidates it will be
interesting to watch to see if your local neighborhood festival will be
overrun with folks trying to get your vote in September or November. Stay
tuned through the upcoming lazy days of summer.
