Scott is right on here and I'll make a testament to that. In a story about
the DFL convention it was also reported that the Independence Party made no
endorsement in city elections and did not plan to, despite the IP convention
in which I was endorsed by 94% of the IP delegates for the sixth ward city
council race. That may be a more enthusiastic endorsement that any other
mpls candidate has received for a city office this year. Despite the press
release, phone calls and e-mails sent to Rochelle Olson (the strib reporter
covering city elections) by then party chair Neal Levine and myself. After
similar follow up by the Greens, SOME of their candidates were reported on.

Nor did they mention my endorsement or even the fact that we had an
endorsing convention. I may yet call Lou Gelfand, but considering the
"luck" we've had with media coverage I'm not particularly optimistic. I
think it does hurt the DFL to have a newspaper that only covers DFL
candidates. The Greens have been able to get some coverage, but as a green,
an Independent and a hopefull non-partisan candidate, I believe Minneapolis
needs a MULTI party system, not just another two party system. As third
parties, a multi party system may very well be our most important common
interest.
