Interesting short in yesterday's USA TODAY which I will quote in its
entirety.
"The re-election hopes of first-term Pittsburgh Mayor Tom Murphy hang in the
balance today as Democratic voters go to the polls to pick a nominee for
November's mayoral contest. Polls show Murphy locked in a neck-and-neck
battle with City Council President Bob O'Connor. O'Connor has accused the
mayor of promoting downtown development 'mega-projects' such as stadiums at
the expense of the city's deteriorating neighborhoods. Winning the
Democratic primary is tantamount to election in heavily Democratic
Pittsburgh."
>From this morning's PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE, with 100 percent of the votes
counted, Murphy 48 percent, O'Connor 46.7 percent, a difference of 800 votes
out of 65,000 cast. O'Connor refuses to concede.
