If Stenglein finishes second in the primary whoever
wins the primary will win. Stenglein must win the
primary to win the general. How is he supposed to
fundraise and claim he can win with the DFL/Green
votes spread across Rybak, McDonald, SSB, Franson?
This one is pure speculation for me, as I have no
horse in this race, but I would be interested to hear
speculation from others on just how this race might
go.
My guess is that the order in the primary will be
Stenglein, McDonald, SSB, Rybak, followed by others.

The scenario for Stenglein winning is simply this:
Rybak and McDonald cancel each other, Stenglein comes
in second in the primary and Stenglein picks up the
Derus vote, the Barbara Carlson vote, and the
eight-years-is-enough-and-time-to-move-on vote in the
general.

In the recent Doug Grow column, Parks Commissioner
Walt Dziedzic said Mayor Sayles Belton should drop
out. Dziedzic went on to predict that Hennepin County
commissioner Mark Stenglein would probably be
Minneapolis's next mayor.
Could be - but if it happens, it will be an astounding feat.
