Just wanted to update everyone, Metro Transit (formerly mcto) has not cut any routes.
If the House funding proposal for transit goes through, which is a 10% budget
reduction over last biennium, Metro Transit will not be able to carry on the current
level of service, and roughly 60 routes will be eliminated. The Senate and the
Governor's budget proposals simply allow Metro Transit to keep the current level of
service we provide.

If cuts are needed the Council will go through a comprehensive public hearing process
to determine which routes will be eliminated - we would not unilaterally cut the
highest ridership routes.

I hope that the north-south connector lobbying efforts include metro transit
for a bus route.

Of course, mcto is trying to fight the budget battle by saying that a cut
force them to cut high ridership routes. That's the chicken-little approach,
nobody in their right mind would do that. It has been used in other cities.
Kind of like Coke saying that if they have to cut their budget, they would
stop making Coke and focus on root beer.
