What you need to know
Members from the House, Senate and Governor’s Office are meeting
today and tomorrow to work out the final language for this year’s
Omnibus Tax Bill that will be finalized by Monday June 4th
Currently the Tax Committee has agreed to tax code changes that could
mean at least a $21 million dollar annual reduction in Tax Increment
Financing (TIF) revenues for the City of Minneapolis, and an estimated $10
million dollar annual reduction in TIF revenues for the City of St. Paul.
Reductions in TIF revenue for the Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul
will make it harder for each city to fund their development activities in
neighborhoods (including the Minneapolis Neighborhood Revitalization
program.)
Neighborhoods can still make calls to members of the House and Senate
Tax Committees- asking them to restore the needed resources for community
development so that affordable housing and neighborhood revitalization can
continue to be addressed. It’s important for the city, the region, and
the state.
