Hello:
My name is Lori McCready. I'm a 37 year resident of Northeast Minneapolis and
a fifteen year resident of the First Ward. I'm married with two young
children (both boys).
Professionally, I run my own business -- www.mccreadysgiftworld.com -- an
online mall consisting of my own line of products and links to popular online
merchants and services I've formed partnerships with. I design and manage the
site myself. Prior to starting my business, I had a lengthy career (over
fifteen years) in retail operations.
I have no party affiliation. We elect our officials to represent us and
ensure that our best interests are being served by government. This should
take priority over party policy.
I joined this group because, at the urging of neighbors and family, I'm
entering the race for First Ward City Council and thought this would be a
great way to discuss community issues with fellow residents.
As a lifelong resident of the area, I'm familiar with the neighborhoods,
schools, parks, local organizations, businesses, cultural diversity and
historic significance of the First Ward.
Here's what First Ward residents can expect from me as their representative
on the City Council: Neighborhood issues will be a top priority, I'll work
with local organizations to improve and strengthen our community and the
service we receive from the city. I'll have an open-door policy, giving
citizens an opportunity to express their views regarding neighborhood
concerns, taxes, proposed ordinances, city services, new development and
other issues before any action is taken by the City Council. I'll approach
issues that effect the community and our city with common sense and fiscal
responsibility. My actions will always be based on what my constituents want
for our city and community -- not on my own personal or political agenda.
