This may be considered heresy for a DFLer--I've often thought that it would
be helpful to have at least one Republican State Representative and Senator
from Minneapolis.  We basically need someone to argue Minneapolis' case in
the Republican Caucuses in the House and Senate. In the current legislative
session the Republican view seems to be "stick it to Minneapolis, they are
not our voters anyway."

The southwest corner of the city could easily elect a Republican if the
Republicans endorsed a moderate (like Mary Doty) and provided support  It's
just that the current Republican Taliban (the term used by a Republican)
are not interested in supporting any moderates.
