FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
McDonald Hires James Gibsons Campaign Manager
Contact: Jason Amundsen, Campaign Manager, (612)
362-7826
Council Member and Mayoral candidate Lisa McDonald has
hired Neal Levine as the campaigns field director.
Levine, an Independence Party activist, was U.S.
Senate candidate James Gibsons campaign manager in
the 2000 election.
Levine has over ten years of experience in grassroots
organizing. A native of New York, Neal has
volunteered and worked for Democratic, Republican, and
Independence Party candidates. Most recently he was
chair of the Independence Partys 5th Congressional
District.
I was supporting McDonald before taking this
position, said Levine. As a social liberal and
fiscal moderate, she has the track record I believe
in. I cant think of a better candidate independents
like myself would want to see as the next Mayor of
Minneapolis.
I was very impressed with James Gibsons effort in
the last U.S. Senate race, said McDonald. With few
resources and low name identification, Neal succeeded
in running an extremely credible campaign. I feel
very fortunate that he is on our team.
Levine joins Jason Amundsen, McDonalds campaign
manager, in spearheading the effort going into the
September primary. Amundsen was the deputy field
director for David Lillehaugs U.S. Senate bid and was
a regional field director for the Minnesota House
Democratic Caucus, supervising and assisting in seven
races in last years election cycle. Hiring Neal
was a very good decision, said Amundsen. We are
very happy to have someone of his intelligence,
enthusiasm, and ability working on this campaign.
Also working on the field campaign is Tara Garman.
Garman did research at KARE 11 and is 2000 graduate of
St. Cloud State, who majored in Political Science and
Television Journalism.
Levine takes the place of Rio Roland, who is stepping
down because of an illness in his immediate family.
