Thank you for your response Buck. I really appreciate the
detail - it helps me understand what is going on much
better.
We may have a tireless advocate in a city hall office
perhaps, but in the streets the garbage has been mounting.
And the new policy once again is focused on downtown and
only a few commercial corridors. The neighborhoods are
getting trashed and the tireless advocate in the mayor's
office isn't doing anything to help that. And the fact that
something is finally being proposed, however small, makes me
wonder if there is an election coming up?
Just come to the intersection and neighborhoods around 38th
and 23rd Ave S on any day. I got tired of going out there
with my two and four year old every day picking up the trash
from the convenience store, the ghetto gas station that
inspections would never help us with, the Nile Health Care
Center that never cleaned up it's fence (never mind the 4
foot high weeds) and the bus stop that was trashed every
week especially by the "free papers" stands that were broken
for over a year. (Thank you to the trash lady for at least
helping me get those taken care of.) The restaurant
dumpster overflowing on the sidewalk. Not to mention the
graffiti everywhere.
A citizen can only do so much. Sooner or later you need a
real partner in City Hall and believe me after trying for
two years I know that there is no partner in City Hall.
