Eva asks, regarding my proposal to add filters to some Internet-access
terminals at MPL:
>Which particular filter package would you recommend for the library? What
>criteria would you want to use for choosing a filter package?
>Who would you use as advisers for this process?
> The FRC -- which has been supporting the Librarian's lawsuit,
> the ALA, who?

My proposal addressed what I feel is a needed policy-level change at MPL.
At this point, I would defer to staff and management at MPL and possibly the
ALA (Am. Library Assoc) to identify filtering and other security/privacy
options and make recommendations to the Director. I'd also be open to
suggestions as to other outside advisors. In general, I don't believe it is
the role of the Board to micromanage staff in operational matters. However,
it is the role of the Board to be involved in policy development, including
Internet-access-related issues.
