Besides the green Theodore Wirth book Annie Young mentioned, which
covers Park Board history up to the mid-1940s and has a street value
of several hundred dollars, there's a more recent Park Board history
book. It is more oriented to the political history of the postwar
Park Board. I believe the author's name is Wright. It exists only as
an unpublished manuscript. The only copy I've encountered is in the
City Hall Municipal Information Library. I'm told that the Park Board
some years back declined to publish it after commissioning it. It
would cover some of the events Ed Gearty would have described. Al
Wittman, the former assistant superintendent for planning, is working
on the new book Annie Young describes.
