List members will note the use of the word "allegedly" when referring to raising
money for the mayor; I doubt he would have actually followed through too, and
have my doubts as to whether SSB would ever have appointed him to anything
either. (sounds more like puffery)

I received information from another source that Basim Sabri did contribute $300
to Stenglein at a fundraiser held by his brothers.

If I recall the Kallenbach campaign's public statements on the matter, they
forwarded Basim's donation to the state DFL.

None of this is intended to attack any of the candidates - just to describe the
nature of the widely spread donations. When one person is "supporting" several
candidates for the same office, it most likely an attempt to buy influence (as
opposed to candidates peddling or selling influence - that's another story for
another day).

This is nothing more than innuendo and wishful thinking on the part of people
who want to attack the
Mayor and others even if they have to make it up.

The Kallenbach campaign recieved an attempt at a donation from Mr. Sabri but did
not take it.

In conversations with members of the Sayle Belton Steering Committee I know that
it would be a cold
day in hell before they accepted any donations or fundraising efforts from Mr.
Sabri. To clarify
again what has been stated before, Basim Sabri has donated a grand total of $85
to the campaign in
1993.

It is interesting that when it looked like Mr. Sabri was going to try and pin
something on Lisa
McDonald a couple weeks ago people were quick to label him unbelievable but seem
to readily believe
him when he says something about someone they don't like.
