I worked on Lisa McDonald's campaign. I know it was a disciplined and
focused campaign. I'm not quite sure why she didn't do better. When I was
calling voters for Robert Lilligren Monday, I got into a discussion about
Lisa McDonald (she asked if Robert Lilligren's and Lisa McDonald's
campaigns were coordinating -- and I told her the campaigns were not -- but
that Robert had cordial relationships with Lisa McDonald) and it turned out
her concern was that Lisa McDonald had been "disrespectful to the
community" at Lucille's. This reminds me of the rhetoric that MA likes to
spread about "White Supremacy", and Dyna Slyter and Wizard Marks have
spread on this list about Lisa being racist. Maybe that word of mouth BS
and lies worked. Word of mouth lies about Republican Peter Bell being an
anti-gay fringe Republican extremist worked with some of my gay friends. I
hope Lisa continues in public life in some capacity. I have learned alot
from volunteering in her campaign.
In the 8th ward, Robert Lilligren came in first -- and very commandingly so
-- and this despite the DFL machine working against him. He came in first
by attracting a good cadre of volunteers, and working diligently for every
vote he received. Since Louis King, who is managing Brock's campaign along
with Matthea Little Smith is a formidable competitor, I'm looking forward
to more friendly debates with Louis King on this list. I've enjoyed
matching wits with Louis King on this list. I always enjoy reading his
posts.
I'd also like to say, I was disappointed Shirley Carlson didn't do better
in the 10th ward. It's tough for Republicans to win in Minneapolis.
Shirley would have been exactly the type of independent and principled
voice we need on the City Council. I'd like to thank Shirley for running
proudly and openly as a Republican.
