> REGISTERED VOTERS - TOTAL . . . . . 216,271
> BALLOTS CAST - TOTAL. . . . . . . 59,091
> VOTER TURNOUT - TOTAL . . . . . . 27.32
Turnout was awesome! Volume at the polls dropped after the
attack, but rebounded later. Perhaps with so many places closed and
reruns of the attack on TV, folks were bored so they went out to vote?

This is now RT's race to lose. Sharon may get half of
Stenglein's vote but most of Lisa's vote will go to RT. Sharon needs
to dis Target, declare the housing shortage the emergency it is, and
get back to her progressive roots if she wants to keep her office.
Lisa is the big loser here- she overestimated her popularity and
should have dropped out after the convention. As for Mr. Stenglein,
if redistricting is not kind to him he faces unemployment in a couple
years also.
There's a serious message here for prospective candidates-
Republicans and even conservative DFL/IP candidates like Lisa are
dead meat in Minneapolis. If you want to win, move as far left as you
can without going in the ditch.

No surprises here.
> Council Member Ward 2

> CAM GORDON (GRN) . . . . . . . . 1,068 31.76
> Total . . . . . . . . . 3,363
Joan wasn't near progressive enough for this ward, and the
students finally turned out in a primary. If Paul can make peace with
the old guard he'll win handily.
> Council Member Ward 3
> VOTE FOR UP TO 1
> (WITH 10 OF 10 PRECINCTS COUNTED)
> BRIAN MONROE(PIR) . . . . . . . 168 5.84
> JOE BIERNAT (DFL). . . . . . . . 1,511 52.52
> SHANE M. PRICE (GRN). . . . . . . 532 18.49
> MAKEDA ZULU-GILLESPIE (SAC) . . . . 178 6.19
> VALDIS ROZENTALS (IND) . . . . . . 488 16.96
Joe gets any easy ride here. Bro. Shane tried mightily, but
even he couldn't get the west 3rds recalcitrant voters to the polls.
I suspect the Green Party endorsement hurt him and he would have done
better as a DFLer.

Another easy one for Jackie.

DEAN (Z) ZIMMERMANN (GRN) . . . . . 687 25.92
> Total . . . . . . . . . 2,650
This was the most unpredictable race on the card. Dean Z is a
proven votegetter and leads the race without breaking a sweat. Dean
Kallenback will pick up much of Barb's and Shada"s vote making this a
close race to the finish in November. Dishonorable mention goes to
Shada for shamelessly campaigning until poll closing if not after,
while other campaigns had stood down out of respect for the great
tragedy that befell our nation.

> SEAN FLYNN (IND) . . . . . . . . 693 12.77
> Total . . . . . . . . . 5,426
No surprises here.
> Council Member Ward 8

> ROBERT LILLIGREN (DFL) . . . . . . 1,649 43.72
> Total . . . . . . . . . 3,772
Vickie's turning into a serious candidate, and may close the
gap. However, Robert will pick up some of Sandra's support which
could easily put him over 50%. Better turnout in the general will
help Vicky though.
> Council Member Ward 9

> TIFFANY RING (IND) . . . . . . . 268 6.01

Might as well give Gary the office keys so he can start moving in.
> Council Member Ward 10
> VOTE FOR UP TO 1

> DAN NIZIOLEK (DFL) . . . . . . . 2,043 40.62

> MARK KNAPP (GRN) . . . . . . . . 867 17.24
> Total . . . . . . . . . 5,030
Shirley's poor showing says something of the prospects for
even a socially progressive Republican in much of Minneapolis.
Whoever can win the Green Party vote will win in November.

> DAVID ALBERT ALVARADO (REF) . . . . 131 2.05

While ya got the office keys out, might as well give Scott his.
> Council Member Ward 12

> SANDY COLVIN ROY (DFL) . . . . . . 3,000 55.08
> GREGG A. IVERSON (DFL) . . . . . . 485 8.90
Sandra has no need to update her resume.
Conclusions:
The Minneapolis DFL has less than 2 months to reinvent
itself. The party has been operating far too long on the false
paradigm that it needs to stay close to the political center so that
big donors will give the dollars needed to defeat the Republicans.
There are hardly any Republicans in the Mill City, and the Green
Party is nipping at their heels. As far as money, RT has conclusively
proven that you can't buy Minneapolitan's votes.
Flame away...
