I have heard off-list from a couple of list members that they believe
extraordinary circumstances require a "suspension of the rules" re: our
Minneapolis focus.
I am not an unreasonable person, and I think I have shown a willingness to
admit mistakes. I also understand that people really value this
Minneapolis-Issues community and feel sincerely that they would like to
discuss this incident here.
I am NOT changing my ruling at this point, but I would like to hear from
more members OFF-LIST whether they would like a few days to discuss the
terrorist attack here. The idea would be a limited time frame, perhaps
through the weekend or 3-4 days, at which time we'd revert to my previously
state rule.
Again, email me OFF-LIST. I'll take your opinions and issue a ruling by
tonight.
Until then, the attack is off-limits without a clear, unique Minneapolis
angle.
Sincerely,
David Brauer

First, I want to thank all of you who have contacted me with your comforting
words.
What do you think of this issue? As we prepare to change the way we live, it
will require STRONG leadership at all levels to build public trust while
taking the appropriate measures.
David responded to my private post:
Louis - you don't have to wait for my decision on that. Those are clear
Minneapolis issues. Feel free to post on that topic, making clear we are
talking about what Minneapolitans would put up with in Minneapolis.
Best,
D.
