I sure did. When I wasn't following Mr. Brauer's
decorum rules, I did it loudly and with unladylike
language. Of course to the mayor and her camp, I
am "no one." I think this is the mayor's tragic
flaw, a sort of tunnel vision that blinds her to
the opinions of anyone other than her acolytes.

Herron may have worked closely with Niland, but he voted
with Cherryhomes, Campbell, and Biernat. And according
to the mayors wishes. Niland at least departed from the
party line once in a while.

Regarding race, I don't doubt for a minute it is a huge
issue in our society and in Minneapolis. As a white
resident of the city, I believe that it is in my interest
to see nonwhites doing well. We share the same streets,
parks, and sidewalks. Our fates can't be separated.
Herron talked a good talk. I think he made
African-Americans _believe_ that they had a voice in city
government. I saw very little evidence that he actually
did anything for them.

Carol and others who are promoting SSB as the anti-racist
candidate, try pointing to things that she has actually
_done_ for minority residents instead of continually
reminding us that she is a minority member.
