I tried to send this yesterday, but it doesn't seem to have gone through. I'm trying again. A Muslim cleric on CNN announced that next Sunday, the 23rd, prayer services in mosques will be open to all regardless of their faith (or absence thereof), so that non-Muslim people may learn about and show support of the Muslim community. Please look for a mosque in your community, call to confirm the time that they will be participating in the open house, and set aside time to attend services. It is imperative that non-Muslim people make an effort to connect with these communities, and show that not all non-Muslim people are directing their feelings of grief and fear into feelings of hostility toward and fear of Muslim people. All the rallys and vigils in town put on by non-Muslim people will not send a true message of support and concern for the Muslim community if non-Muslims continue to express their support and concerns =outside of= the Muslim communities and places of worship. Please consider attending an open house in your community. If you need help finding information, please call one of the following centres: The Islamic Information Office, 612.823.1943.
