Following is info concerning a talk by Ralph Nader
here in Mpls on Sept. 25th:
Who Decides and How: Domestic Foreign Policy
In the wake of the September 11th tragedy, Ralph Nader
addresses the ways
crucial decisions are made in our country. Who will
really decide what
happens next? And how will that decision be made?

As the nation works to make sense of the events of
September 11th,
thoughtful citizens wonder how our government will
respond to the tragedy.
Will innocent civilians die as revenge for the death
of other innocent
civilians? Will attacks continue a cycle of violence
or is there a way to
end or weaken the pattern of death?
A second question is rising in the minds of the
public: how will that
decision be made, and who will make it? Will it rise
from the will of the
people or be settled in dark rooms by vested
interests?
We have an opportunity to turn this tragedy into a
coming together, an
example of the power of community and of collective
good will. We have
been sadly reminded of our shared humanity and our
common public life. We
again know of our collective responsibility to hold
onto our democracy.
Perhaps we can make justice rise from the dark
misfortunes of terror.
Thanks, David Strand
