I was pretty outraged when I heard that NorthWest is planning not to pay
their MAC bill -- just like that. There is beginning to be talk of raising
taxes in Hennepin county to help pay for the airport. Northwest has been
treated very well by our state and by our city -- and they should pay their
way -- as they are contracted to do in their lease.

As far as taxes go -- what I'd rather see is a facility charge to
passengers -- rather than a general tax to the residents of the area. That
way the people who use the airport, pay the way. However I'd be more
likely to vote in favor of a tax increase for the Airport -- than for a
stadium.

As far as airport noise goes, this seems to be an opening for RT Rybak to
get on the soapbox. I'd like to hear what City Council Candidates have to
say about this also.
