I have made my mayoral preference known in order to be honest. Members can decide for themselves whether I have administered the list fairly. I fully expected at some point, someone would try to exploit my honestly stated preference. Members can judge for themselves whether Dyna has been prevented from making her points. I do think this list has great value as a place to debate serious issues among people who disagree. The way to keep many different camps here is to insist on respectful discourse. Because list conduct has deteriorated in recent days, I have stepped up enforcement. Trust me when I say that applies to all camps. Please complain to me - respectfully - if you feel a future post has violated those rules. I ask that you email the offending member first, but I am a last resort. Don't bring it to the list because that only ratchets up the static and bitterness, which is usually the goal in the first place. Despite the intramural discussion of list management, there are reasons Dyna's latest post is not a rules violation. Feel free to email me off list and I'll explain why. Again, it's up to all of us to focus on substance and not fall for provocative sideshows. I ask all members for their help returning the list to a forum where important ideas can be debated respectfully.
