The Lilligren for Everyone campaign is pleased to announce
that today, 8th Ward City Council Candidate Robert
Lilligren was endorsed by the Minneapolis Building &
Construction Trades Council.

With over 24,000 members, the Minneapolis Building &
Construction Trades Council represents 28 unions, 31
locals, and is a very significant and valued vote of
confidence for Robert Lilligren and his campaign. "I'm from
a union family, and am third generation DFL, so this
endorsement is great for the campaign, and also means a lot
to me on a personal level", said Robert Lilligren about the
endorsement.

Robert Lilligren is the front-runner of the recent 8th Ward
primary election, receiving 44% of the vote. 44% of the
8th Ward primary vote represents a significant margin of
victory over the 26% garnered by the nearest contender of
the four candidates. Supporters feel that the hard work and
dedication of Robert Lilligren and his campaign volunteers
is an important factor. The burgeoning Lilligren campaign
has been rapidly gaining support among 8th Ward residents
since last fall, and the list of campaign volunteers is
growing at a similar rate.

Lilligren's message emphasizes the importance of inclusive
revitalization in The 8th Ward, directed by the community
input process, and implemented through strong, prudent
leadership in city hall. Smart development that meets
community needs & goals while enhancing the livability of
the ward for residents is a key goal. It is time for a new
beginning, a fresh start in the 8th Ward.

Lilligren has been an active participant in neighborhood
processes for several years, prioritizing issues such as
livability, land use, affordable and mixed income housing,
adaptive re-use and rehabilitation of existing housing
stock, and building productive relationships with city
staff, agencies, and public officials. Lilligren has also
been an active promoter of the Greenway project for eight
years, and has spent three years participating in the I35W
task force working to ensure that potential changes in the
freeway design are acceptable not only to MNDOT, but most
importantly to area residents. It is important that the
freeway do no further damage to the neighborhoods as
changes to accommodate business needs in commercial
corridors are considered. Robert Lilligren has pledged to
prioritize housing and economic development, safe and
livable communities, the creation and improvement of parks,
and encourage civic pride & civic awareness.

Robert Lilligren's personal investment in rehabilitating
properties near his home in Phillips is further evidence of
his dedication to the neighborhood. His vision for the 8th
Ward is one of inclusive revitalization, and the growing
list of Lilligren supporters feel he is well equipped to
provide the leadership necessary to ensure that
opportunities are created for all residents of the 8th
Ward, and most of all, to be a full time council member for
the entire ward.
