Now, are all of those people playing into sexist stereotypes, >as Lisa would like to think, or....could it be remotely possible that Lisa >actually comes across as negative and unlikeable? Pardon me if I choose to >believe the latter.... I've met Lisa on numerous occasions, and she does not come across that way to me. She is definitely determined and doesn't suffer fools easily. That does tend to alienate some. However there were lots of very personal attacks on Lisa McDonald on this list. Wizard Marks called her "venomous" and "nasty" in a post. Lisa McDonald saw through Basim Sabri before many others did. She took a lot of heat for that. >Her thinly veiled endorsement of the mayor is also a joke....she's spent >the past four years railing against everything the mayor has done, >criticizing the Sayles Belton administration at virtually every turn. However, I don't see the article showing that she thinks either candidate is up to the job. while RT is just a >big meanie who makes fun of her hearing impairment. (Pardon me if I don't >hop on board believing that accusation, by the way.) I'm sure RT has his own version of events. I'd like to hear Rybak's version of events on this list. I heard Lisa telling this story to some people at the NRP event shortly before the primary. She was quite upset at RT about this. This sounds like >someone who cares more about what's best for Lisa McDonald than what's best >for the city of Minneapolis. EXACTLY someone we don't want as our >mayor...in four years or ever. I think it will be interesting to see what Lisa McDonald does with the next four years. As far as which candidate would be easier to beat as an incumbent -- I agree with the the people who said it's really too soon to tell. SSB will probably not run for another term. >And since she mentioned the number of times it took Dayton to become >Senator...on a side note, I know from working with Mark that the reason he >won last year is because he blames nobody but HIMSELF for his previous >losses. If Lisa spends the next four years doing absolutely zero personal >introspection, rest assured she won't be nearly as successful. I think many candidates learn from losing elections. I'm personally still disappointed that I won't have the opportunity to vote for Lisa this November. Will I vote for SSB because Lisa McDonald is leaning towards her. At this point, I am leaning towards Rybak. I have concerns about his lack of experience. However I see him as a person who is forward thinking, and SSB seems to be rehashing the rhetoric from the 60s and 70s -- like Al Gore. Democrats have to get beyond that, just as Republicans got to get beyond idolizing Ronald Reagan.
