I've read a few of the comments on the topic of Lisa's
interview with Britt Robson.

I think MnMolly was right on about Lisa's harsh
personality. I don't think it's about the B word and
the difference between men and women.

I think there are ways to be strong and not be nasty.
I know from personal experience.

I think I've uttered more apologies in my lifetime
than most for nasty remarks I've regretted the moment
I saw the words extending from my mouth.

There is one thing Lisa mentioned in her interview
that hits the nail on the head for me.

That is when Lisa talked about how both Mark S. and
SSB helped her when she had difficulties hearing a
question.

Contrast that with R.T.'s behaviour at the MPR debate.

What I heard there was enough for me to not vote for
R.T. no matter what he might say afterward.

I know ugly behaviour like nobody else in that field
and that was ugly with a capital U.

It belied for me what I've felt in my gut about R.T.
all along.

I don't hold it against a person being nasty. We all
are at times.

But to make fun of or to take advantage of a person's
physical qualities is a kick in the groin or a punch
in the kidneys.

It only makes it more noxious when the person tries to
come across as "Mr. Nice Guy" or "Mr. Equanimity".

I won't vote for R.T. I wasn't inclined to before the
debate.

I thought his showing at the KTCA debate was bad.

I think Lisa McDonald is a smart cookie. I don't want
her to be Mayor. I also hate to see the city lose her
experience and knowledge. We need all the help we can
get.

I've felt she was just a little bit too contemptuous
of the public she is supposed to serve.

I think she's growing. I saw it in the campaign.

I think she might make a great City Coordinator which
is not meant to disrespect Kathleen O'Brien who is
first class.

I'm sorry if this all sounds condescending toward
Lisa.
I don't mean it to be.

I was angry whenever I felt any of the candidates be
condescending toward me which was not often.

Certainly not as often as many of R.T.'s supporters.

I thank the candidates for their respect. I wish I
could have been a little more respectful of them at
times.

I felt all along like I was the real outsider, the
real unknown. I figured the only way to become known
to the political class in town was to "kick down the
door" and that guided my actions.

That's an explanation more than an excuse. I tried to
apologize when I thought it warranted. It was only
ever "just business" between competitors.

In the end, I never had a better time in my life and
I'm glad I've gotten the chance to meet so many fine
people through this venue and in City Hall.

Thank you for your forebearance of a sometimes nasty
person who ought to know better.

Cheers
