I said it at the zoning and planning hearing as the DOE meeting was going on. The AIS lawyer then pointed to some statement in the EAW which prohibits radioactive material. But as I understand it, this DOE proposal may remove the title "radioactive" from the metal waste and this would become a likely loophole for the Isaacs family with their less than distinguished record of public-spiritedness to pursue. It was interesting to note that the "competent" city staffer didn't know that by state law radioactive material is specifically excluded from the definition of hazardous waste. Jim Niland was the only member of the committee who was even willing to pursue the topic after I brought it up.
