Below is the e-mail I received from Mark J. Newbury. According to the
letter, American Iron will receive no hazardous waste of any kind. If he
is confident that they will be receiving no hazardous waste, will
American Iron submit to random independent tests to their steel?
Yes, that would be a way of alleviating some of my concerns.
If all we're going to get is excuses I don't want to hear them. Feel
free to post to the entire list, I'm sure we'd all like to hear American
Iron's side of the story.
I would have just forwarded the entire message but it included part of
the Air Qaulity permit, and it was rather large.

Reserving my right to be skeptical,

Mr. Yorga,

Your concerns about the acceptance and processing of radioactive
materials are unwarranted based upon the attached document which is part
of the Air Quality permit issued by the Minnesota Pollution Control
Agency governing the operations of the new metal recycling mill to be
installed here at American Iron. I refer you specifically to line #11
that states American Iron will not accept:

11. Chemicals, hazardous materials, radioactive materials, toxic or
combustible materials of any kind including PCB's, asbestos and mercury.

Additionally, the steel industry as a whole prohibits radioactive
materials from their operations as a routine business practice. In
response, American Iron has installed and maintains a very sophisticated
radioactive monitoring system to ensure that no radioactive materials
are allowed on the property for any reason.

Please don't hesitate to call me directly if you have further concerns
that I may alleviate.
