This statement is just plain not true.  I checked with two people who served on the Linden Hills library committee to make sure my recollection was correct.  The library staff did not want to tear down the library.  Your information is just not correct.  Always there was a desire on the part of both the library and the neighborhood to keep the library but to bring it up to date to provide better services and to save an historic building.
