This week voters in the Third Ward (north and northeast Mpls) will have two
interesting opportunities to see their candidates for city council
(DFL-endorsed Joe Biernat and Green Party-endorsed Shane Price) debate each
other:

Tuesday morning, October 23rd is the public policy forum at Lucille's
Kitchen on Plymouth Avenue (9-11am I think). There will also be a debate
between the 5th Ward candidates (DFL-endorsed Jackie Cherryhomes and Green
Party-endorsed Natalie Johnson Lee) this same morning. KMOJ (and possibly
other media) will cover the forum live.

Wednesday evening, October 24th at 7pm the Third Ward candidates will
appear at a forum at Edison High School (22nd Ave. and Monroe NE) in the
school's classy vintage auditorium. This forum is particularly interesting
as it has been organized by students at Edison with assistance from the
Holland Neighborhood Improvement Association. This is the first time I
know of that a high school student group has organized such a forum. The
students have created flyers, determined the format, met both candidates,
and researched issues in the ward in preparation for the debate. The
students are very enthusiastic, the public is invited, and it should be an
interesting and unique forum.
