Yesterday's Strib story on the Mpls Issues List is another reminder about how lucky we are to have David Brauer working to make this forum a fun and interesting place to discuss politics and public affairs. David, I know many of us appreciate your volunteer time and commitment to this innovative pathway to increasing civic involvement.

Subject: [Mpls] The Strib's power

While I'm sure the candidates the StarTribune DIDN'T endorse won't want to
hear this, Steve Brandt's story about the Issues list this morning has has
had a big impact on list membership... more than 30 new memberships as of 2
p.m. We're up to 706 addresses, our highest total ever!

I want to provide a few quick tips for newcomers (reminders for the rest of
us).

1. If you want to post, address your email to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

2. Please discuss "local" issues - those unique to Minneapolis or with
significant unique local aspects. While there are many important national
and global issues that affect the city, general discussions of those issues
belong elsewhere. We are for Minneapolis issues too local to be discussed on
larger forums.

3. No more than two posts per day - defined as 3 a.m. To 3 a.m. (why that
time period? Don't ask...)

4. IMPORTANT: Please be respectful in your posts and in your disagreements -
avoid insult, profanity, gratuitous labels, name-calling. If you want to
make serious charges like "racism" and "corruption," please cite specific
circumstances that support such a charge and do not use the terms as
generalized labels.

5. If you know how, please send list messages plain text. Using fancy
formats like HTML or MIME only causes problems for many readers and our list
server.

6. We have a digest version that bundles 10-20 emails and sends them out as
one long email, about once or twice a day. If you want that option, go the
page you subscribed from. If you're still confused, contact me at
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

7. When replying to a post, please delete as much of the original post as
you can, unless you are quoting directly from it.

8. If you believe someone has violated the rules, email me, not the whole
list. We don't want to keep rules-violating discussions alive.

9. Other questions, email me at [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Thanks to everyone for being here!
