In response to the e-mail message sent to the Mayor Monday, Ron Thaniel, her
policy aide, has arranged to meet next Wednesday with Sandy Meyer, owner of
Charger, the dog shot by a Minneapolis police officer August 13. Mr.
Thaniel also contacted Risk Management last week regarding the status of the
claim and though for confidentiality reasons could not discuss the claim
with me, strongly urged the family to contact Risk Management directly.

Jeremy Meyer, Sandy's son, had his 2nd appearance in Hennepin County Court
today regarding a disorderly conduct charge he was issued the evening
Charger was shot. A complaint demand was made by his attorney. Though she
had a copy of the police report, she had no copy of an actual complaint.
His next court appearance will be November 26.

On a side note -

I have to say, most times I go to City Hall, the workers are extremely
helpful, friendly, genuine, and courteous. Whether it is asking someone in
the hallway where a particular office is located or asking a receptionist
for a phone number or when someone will be in, I have never been treated
rudely and most often, I have been treated far better than I am treated as a
customer many places in the private sector. And this isn't just my opinion
today; it has been my opinion for a little over a year now. I hope this
will be the case for many more years.
