Several members of this list have commented regarding Paul Zerby and students at the University of Minnesota. I thought I'd share some of Paul's own comments from a debate with Cam Gordon held this past Monday at the Carlson School of Management.
An article on the debate was published in the Tuesday edition of the Minnesota Daily: http://www.mndaily.com/story.php?date=20011023&storyID=4557 My personal thoughts regarding Mr. Zerby's comments are that while I am somewhat tempted to admire his courage in making such statements given the location and primary audience of the debate, I'm horribly disappointed in the logic (or rather lack of) behind his statements, especially the one about neighbors being involved in student organizations. Whether Mr. Zerby likes it or not, U of MN students living near campus are a part of the neighborhoods that make up Ward 2 and they have just as much right to participate in neighborhood associations as anyone else.
