<< It is hoped that the Green Party will not act so un-Green in the days just
before the General Election as it did before the Primary in my neighborhood.
All cars in the two blocks East and the two blocks North of my residence had
either a Green Party sample ballot or a Cam Gordon leaflet stuffed under
their windshield wipers. The number of cars amounted to about 130. I leave
it to the imagination of the reader of this post as to how many of these
sample ballots and Gordon leaflets ended up on the street.

Flyering, whether it's in peoples' doors or on car windshields, always runs
the risk of creating a litter problem, especially in windy weather. I believe
most campaign volunteers, Green or otherwise, do their best to secure their
materials when they are lit dropping; however there are always a few that
escape.

If the Green Party had bags of money, we could mail our sample ballots.
Instead, we have to rely on volunteers to get the word out. Now that the days
are short, personal safety becomes a consideration, especially as many
volunteers work and can only lit drop in the evening. Rather than go up and
down porch steps in the dark, or risk waking dogs and residents by stuffing
flyers in people's doors at night, it's quieter and safer to put them on car
windshields.

I hope people will be tolerant of this slight inconvenience for the sake of
free speech and grassroots democracy.
