I NEVER joked about the bombings. I was in a lot of shock about them, but, other than the other-worldly/movie feeling I got from watching the pictures on TV, I never saw anything funny about the bombings.

That doesn't mean I don't know what I'm talking about when it comes to the Mpls library system. Since when must candidates be solemn as a funeral about everything? The job is a serious one and I have some very serious ideas about how to proceed at this time. While everyone was still in shock, she was JOKING about the Sept. 11 crisis on this list the very next day!!! Actually, I can be both cooperative and get in the fce of "the established order," presuming there is an established order--it could be disorder as well. I fully expect to present the board with ways to earn money for the public library which they have not thought about. Further, I have a more than respectable record of earning money for MPL and I expect to do much more of that. From my contact with the board members running for reelection--Kruger, Savran and Hoffstede (sp?)--I fully expect them to be receptive to hearing what I have to say and, if they are elected as well, to be ready to put a plan in place that will address the operating shortfall. When people are laughing, they are more receptive to hearing what is being said.
