Sayles Belton's Scheduling Snafoo

I'd like to thank both Jo Mattson (Sayles Belton's campaign manager) and
Alan Hooker for letting us know what happened with the Quorum Forum. I was
at this forum. I actually thought Sayles Belton did better at the debate
than Rybak did. However her late entrance did mitigate that considerably.
She would have been better off saying that her schedulers had messed up on
this one -- and appologised to the group for the inconvenience. Her
statement that she was just a "few minutes late" -- and that we should
obviously understand because People Serving People WAS a more important
priority was a bit disrespectful to the Quorum Forum.

I remember something similar when I helped organize a Log Cabin Republicans
fundraiser for McCain. I was understanding that McCain would be on a phone
conference. Instead it was a bit of a bait and switch -- with McCain's
campaign manager instead. I was quite irritated about this at the time.

At the same time, I wouldn't hold this against Sayles Belton in voting for
or against her for mayor. Mistakes happen. I appreciated campaign manager
Jo Mattson posting on the list quickly about what happened with this.

One other thing I noticed at this forum was Rybak talked about a "hip,
urban, livable" vision for Minneapolis. I wonder who he got that piece of
rhetoric from.

Sunshine on Marks

Regarding "Wendell Sunshine" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>'s post "Down with
Wizard Marks". Is that a real name? I've never heard "Sunshine" as a
sirname before. Every once in a while I see other posts on this list,
where I question the authorship. I'd like to ask that people post using
their real names. I believe that is a list rule. It helps immensely in
evaluating information when you have the full disclosure of name and
neighborhood.

Dean Kallenbach's Nixonesque Lit piece

Regarding Tamir Nolley's post on the Kallenbach campaign. I would agree
with the comparison to LBJ's campaign saying his opponent had had beastly
encounters. However the comparison of Kallenbach to Nixon doesn't quite
wash. Kallenbach's problem is the perception by many that he is a tool of
others -- specifically Jim Graham of Carriage House fame and Rick Stafford.
Nixon was never a tool for anyone else.

However Kallenbach's biggest problem is he alienated the other DFLers
running in the primary quite seriously. Neither Barb Lickness or Jonathan
Palmer has come out publically in support of Kallenbach.

I'll agree with Tamir's assessment that in person, Kallenbach appears to be
an amiable fellow.

I also wonder if Kallenbach is campaigning on his proposal on reparations.
Somehow I kind of doubt that one.
