Okay, would someone please explain to me why I and a whole lot of other people in the southwest part of this city were smart enough to help RT block endorsement, but then later that same day became so dumb that we endorsed 13 candidates for Park Board, Libary Board, School Board and (at a separate convention) City Council, none of which were good enough for RT. Because when I receive a piece of literature with a DFL candidate at the top which doesn't say he is DFL, which includes only independent candidates and none of the DFL endorsed candidates, I am left with one of the following choices: 1) Southwest Minneapolis DFL members are absolute idiots at picking candidates other than the one rare exception of voting for RT at the convention. 2) Somebody was willing to abandon the one who brought them to the dance in order to get a better ride home. Don't get confused, I was an RT supporter all the way up until this. But had I known how quickly my support could be devalued and in fact hidden, I would have tried to include another candidate in the general. I believed we needed to have a new direction in the mayor's office and felt RT was the best choice based on his affirmation of core DFL values and his record of success in other ventures. This is the message that I consistently carried throughout the campaign cycle. But I don't like being used to block endorsement and then have no support for my candidates during the general election. To paraphrase the immortal words of Ricky Ricardo "RT, you got some 'splainin to do."
