CITY TO SOLICIT PUBLIC COMMENT AT OPEN HOUSE ON NOV. 27 ON MINNEAPOLIS MASTER BICYCLE PLAN
The City of Minneapolis will host an open house on Tuesday, November 27 in Room 220, City Hall, 350 So. 5th Street, between 4 - 8 p.m., to solicit public comment on the Minneapolis Bicycle Master Plan before the December 2001 approval process. Resident input is being sought on bicycle program goals and priorities, bicycling needs and policy recommendations that will be forwarded to the Minneapolis Bicycling Advisory Committee and then to the Mayor and City Council and Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board (MPRB) as part of the Bicycle Master Plan. The open house is a follow-up to the neighborhood and community meetings held this past year to gather input on future trails, on-street bike lanes, and on-street signed bike routes. The meetings resulted in two bicycle plans, the Minneapolis 5-Year Bicycle Plan and the Minneapolis Bicycle Master Plan. The Minneapolis 5-Year Bicycle Plan was presented to the Council and Mayor and the MPRB and approved in June 2001. The Minneapolis Bicycle Master Plan was presented to both the City Council and the MPRB for consideration with approval scheduled for December 2001 after further public comment on November 27. The Minneapolis Bicycle Master Plan can be found on the City of Minneapolis Web at the following link: http://www.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/citywork/public-works/transportation/bicycle s/index.html. If you have any questions about the Master Plan or the open house, please contact Donald Pflaum, Public Works and Transportation Department, at 612-673-2129.
