Dear Steven:

After seeing your post on the Minneapolis Issues Forum, I thought you might be
interested in the following:

The Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission Listening Tour occurred at the
request of Governor Jesse Ventura and took the commission to seven communities
-- Moorhead, Marshall, Woodbury, Rochester, Duluth, Brooklyn Park and Saint
Cloud. The tour's objective was to obtain feedback from citizens about the value
of professional sports and stadiums in Minnesota. In all, more than 1,000
Minnesotans participated in this public process through public open houses,
moderated discussions, surveys, interactive web comments and news media
meetings.

The MSFC found significant shift in public attitudes about the importance people
feel toward keeping the teams and forging stadium solutions, even if it means
some forms of public participation. A key recommendation by the MSFC is to urge
the Minnesota Legislature to approve a stadium funding bill that keeps the Twins
a viable Major League team and also protects the public interests.
