Hey listen folks. I was one of the first who gladly
stood in line to vote Belton out of office, and if I could, I would have
voted for Johnson Lee into office. The issue of Barb Johnson running for
Council President and the controversy surrounding it is more about the current
fear of incumbents and the reaction to be wary of them. Yes, Barb did
support Belton at times, but from my personal experience as a block club leader,
she has always been responsive, open and supportive of the issues we face here
in the 4th ward. So why all the ruffled feathers. The north side is
on the verge of making a leap forward away from blight, crime, nuisance issues,
etc. With the redevelopment of Lowry Avenue (much needed), she might be
able to infuse additional momentum to fix up northside areas. Heck, I
myself tire of driving past blight, boarded up store fronts. One only has
to drive around the southside to see revitalization, revitalization,
revitalization. C'mon, Minneapolitans can't we all support a cleaner, more
robust and safe Minneapolis CITYWIDE?
When I have issues, I can count on Barb Johnson's office
to be responsive, courteous and supportive of issues we face in our
neighborhoods in the 4th ward.
Oh, and yes, I did support Rybak, either way, if Johnson
or Ostrow wins the Council Presidency, it would be fine with me. Just glad
to be near to the end of the Belton/Cherryhomes era.
