Very sorry that my schedule in the past couple weeks has kept me from monitoring the list...hope to catch up soon...but I did want to clarify some points raised in an earlier post by Sen. Higgins:
She wrote: "I was working in my office and watching on the closed-circuit tube, and RT said that the stadium was the highest priority for the city in the upcoming bonding bill. (He then was corrected by CM Cherryhomes, who clarified that the council had voted for the Enterprise Zones and the Planetarium as the two priorities.)" ------------------------------- As I recall I was asked about my priorities for the Minneapolis delegation in the bonding bill. I said I was planning to meet with the delegation in the next two weeks to determine that together. I recalled CM Cherryhomes saying that the city's top priorities were the Holman project and the Planetarium. This may have been the case for her discussions with the legislators but I have not had those discussion yet so I can't speak for the priorities the delegation and I will have. Sen. Higgins also wrote that I said I would go back to the community to override the $10 million cap on a subsidy for the stadium. She isn't the only person who took that out of my testimony, so I may well have misunderstood the question, but this is definitely not my intent. I would not support changing the cap. The main points I made in my testimony were: 1. The best site for a stadium is Minneapolis. 2. The ball is in the hands of the private sector, which has to lead this project. 3. The number one issue facing my city is affordable housing. _______________________________________ Minneapolis Issues Forum - A Civil City Civic Discussion - Mn E-Democracy Post messages to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subscribe, Unsubscribe, Digest option, and more: http://e-democracy.org/mpls
