I am curious about how many of the boards and commissions actually have
openings that could be filled now. New people are appointed to them by the
council as openings appear, throughout the year and throughout the council's
term. Are they appointed to full terms from that date forward or are they
appointed to partial terms? Probably some of each. Do they all expire now? I
sincerely doubt it. I also seem to remember that the applications are good
for a specific amount of time, not forever. Many of the boards and
commissions may have no current openings, so people may be filling out
applications that will in fact be no good after a couple or three months.
Except you may get a list of people to contact when there is in fact an
opening.

I also think it should be pointed out that the vast majority of these
appointments are made by the council, not the mayor.
