That may be true, but in the end she did tell Ostrow he had her support and signed a pledge that she would support him.  It's funny but in politics the only thing you have is your word.  Once she gave her word she should have stuck to it.  Outside forces obviously lobbied her and she caved in.  She got the same through the Johnson slate as she got through the Ostrow slate - chair if TP&W.  Therefore, she obviously didn't switch because she got the best chairmanship - apparently that wasn't the issue.  Loyalty is really important in politics, people need to know who they can count on.  She gave her word weeks before the inauguration.  To switch the evening before is something else
