Loki Anderson writes:

"I'm astonished by Lisa Goodman's comments in today's Strib expressing
suprise and anger that Sandy Colvin-Roy switched her vote at the last
second. SCR stated in the paper at the time that Ostrow and Goodman
declared their challenge to the Council leadership that she would
support whoever gave her the best committee chairship. She should have
just put a big "My support is FOR SALE" sticker on herself. I respect
the honesty, but I can't say that's someone I'd trust. Guess we should
just mark down Sandy as "loyalty impaired" from now on."

[TB] Politics has as one of its bases the trust built on personal
relationships. That Colvin-Roy made herself available to the highest
bidder back in September when Cherryhomes was still a player is much
different from November and December after Jackie was taken out of the
mix. Colvin-Roy had publicly agreed to a plan after all of the new
players were known. The Strib report: "Goodman criticized Colvin
Roy's final-evening flip-flop, saying her word is "no good" anymore
because she broke her pledge to Ostrow that she would support him."
Seems like a mild reaction.

Karen Forbes responding to Carol Becker:
Carol stated:
> And apparently there are gifts for people who attend the Citizen's
Fair.

Karen States:
Ok, I did get my picture taken with the mayor and I did not have to pay
a dime for it. Frankly, the citizen fair had a real welcoming feeling
to it.
I felt like there was a genuine effort on the part of the new
administration to welcome everyone into the proces of making the city a
better place.

[TB] Mayor Rybak should be commended in inviting everyone to
participate in the various management arms of the City. Bringing a
variety of ideas to the table will only build a better city as the best
of those ideas are put together as we move forward.

I was disappointed in the ex-mayors staff when I read in yesterdays
paper: (former?) City Coordinator Kathleen O'Brien said she wonders
whether Rybak is aware yet of the breadth of the job, citing his focus
on affordable housing and restructuring the development agency.
"They're important issues, but they're kind of peripheral to the
business of city government," she said. Former Chief of Staff Colleen
Moriarty also took a shot at Rybak. This from the staff of a former
mayor who didnt even bother to show up at the inauguration of her
immediate successor.

You certainly have to be impressed when Rybak brings in John Moir as
City Coordinator, we know that Moir will tell it like it is, not just
what someone wants to hear.

The big disappointment was that we now have no women or people of color
in top leadership position. ... Just one bone? Just Barb Johnson as
president or Lisa Goodman as vice president at least as a token?

[TB] The last thing we should be doing is selecting leaders based on
tokenism. You certainly need to consider the entire council to be part
of the leadership group. That council has a mix of men and women, at
least one African American, our first Native American council member,
gay council members, council members that are originally from here,
others who have moved here. You dont get elected if you are not on
the ballot, most voters take that responsibility seriously and given
the choices on the ballot we have a good mix leading the city.
