I would assume that the only reason this landlord is getting calls from 
Section 8 tenants is due to the amount of rent being charged.  A family of 2 
parents and 4 children receiving public assistance receive a grant of 
$770/month.  Without the subsidy, there is no way they would be able to 
afford such rents.

I have a household of six.  I make $20.821/hour.  I net gross $3609.  After 
taxes, health insurance, union dues, life insurance for myself and family, a 
deferred compensation deduction, and a United Way contribution, I net about 
$1150.00 biweekly.  There is no way that I, as a fulltime worker, would be 
able to afford this rent.

Unless a family has either a Section 8 subsidy, two working parents, or 2 
families renting together, the average family is NOT going to be able to 
afford this kind of rent.   It, to my mind, is NOT affordable housiing and 
is a prime example of even working-class families not being able to afford 
adequate housing in our city.
