Listen up folks:
Here is the reality. Six months ago I would
have had 50 to 60 calls to rent these units. The problem is the
economic recession and low paying jobs in today's market.
Also, I worked with the heads of Section 8 in
Washington D.C. 3 years ago to try to rectify these continuing
problems.
Unfortunately, we had to work with the local
Sec 8 officers and once Rick Giller left Sec 8 here, the whole system went to
pot.
Besides the excessive damages, one last
example. I had a tenant last year that was already renting from me and got
her Sec 8 certificate. Against my better judgement, we accepted her new
Sec 8 lease. She remained in the house for 4 months before she left town
suddenly. Even though we had a signed HAP contract with Sec 8, we
never received one check from them. After 13 calls that were never once
returned, we were forced to file suit to collect from Sec 8.
