How residents can get rid of old TVs or computers in the City of
Minneapolis

RESELL or DONATE
Call a business that buys and sells computers, or sell it yourself.
Consider donating your used, working computer or TV. Call local
charities to ask if they could use the equipment.
Call Computers for Schools at 651-779-2816 or visit their web site at
www.cfsrp.state.mn.us to see if your computer meets their criteria

RECYCLE
Minneapolis residents with city solid waste services may set out computers
and TVs for pickup on their recycling day, at the assigned solid waste
collection point. Set out up to item(s) by 6 a.m. on recycling day with a
note that states, "For Solid Waste." For more information, call Minneapolis
Solid Waste & Recycling at 612-673-2917 or visit their web site at
www.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/solid-waste

Hennepin County residents may also drop off household electronics at one of
two Hennepin County locations. Visit the county's web site for information:
http://www.co.hennepin.mn.us/environmental/household/a-z4.html#E
Electronic equipment that is in good condition will be placed on a reuse
shelf. Residents are free to take reusable materials from the reuse
shelves. Electronics that cannot be reused will be recycled.

Finally, some manufacturers offer take-back programs. Contact the
manufacturer of your product to see if a take-back program is available.

Businesses, institutions and nonprofit agencies should contact an
electronics recycler. For information, call (612) 348-8100 and ask for fact
sheet #142 or visit one the following web sites:
www.moea.state.mn.us/plugin/index.cfm
www.co.hennepin.mn.us/environmental/business (select Disposal Options, then
scroll down to Hazardous and Special Wastes)
www.pca.state.mn.us/waste/pubs/4_15.pdf

Please feel free to contact me with questions about the county's consumer
electronics recycling program.
