Nothing against the particular project in Ventura Village and nothing against
the Z & P committees vote..... but I do share Caras concerns in this matter.

We need a better fix than simply not following the city's own ordinance again
and again and concentrating more and more supportive and shelter housing in
fewer areas.

I would like to see what people would think of a "fair share housing" initiative
that would actually include a way to figure the total number of shelter,
supportive (and perhaps public housing) units needed (or most desired) and then
requiring that these be spread evenly throughout the city, throughout all
neighborhoods. This would require that a certain number be located in each
neighborhood, based (presumably) on the size of the neighborhood.

I would then suggest that the burden (requirement) be put on neighborhoods to
identify locations within their borders for the numbers of unit needed.

It is time bring more people to the table to help with this problem instead of
constantly pitting housing advocates against neighborhood advocates.
