I don't know how Robin (Mr.) Garwood deals with traffic tickets. I don't
even know if
he has a car. The last time I was pulled over (bad headlight), I did smile
politely
at the officer, which is what I should have done. The officer was also
polite to me,
which is how he should have been. In fact, as a small female with neither a
gun or
baton, I did not have the option to knock him down (as his coworkers did to
Mr. Dodge)
or send him to the hospital for stitches (as his coworkers did to Ms. Pace).

If I had reason to believe that police dealt with all citizens the way they
dealt with
me in the traffic stop, I would not bother to post on this issue.

Although I have to grit my teeth to even think this, it is (given my analogy
to
nurses), understandable that police forget that they can't deal with every
difficult
work situation with the gun; the baton; or the N-, C-, B-, and MF-words.
Like
nurses, they need to be reminded by their supervisors and by the public.

Keith says: Ungrit your teeth Rosalind. We property owners have had bad
experiences with CCP/Safe. This is the civilion/police unit that does paper
work instead of police work. I saw on TV that a safe 'DETAIL' was passing out
fanny packs to bank customers, in the bank, on West Broadway. I wish they had
taken our scarce public safety resources to help secure the Avenue from drug
sellers and vehicle scofflaws and criminal loitering. We are awash.
In the last city hall regime the CCP/Safe unit was corrupted from the top
down to do political actions for the council/mayor clique. Knocking down
Peter Dodge or closing down the Hardtimes Cafe are prime examples of this
type of effort (Pete was my landlord/neighbor at 19th and Portland for
years.) We had them all as guests at our MPRAC meeting along with there
attorneys. I believe Joan Campbell's and the reigning DT troika's political
goals superseded civil and criminal laws and rights in that fiasco.
Same misdirected and illegal marching orders for Hwy. 55 and DT.
demonstrator abuses. They had there marching orders and there bosses were
right there to make sure of compliance at every moment. It is a little
different for a routine patrolman on routine patrol in the containment zones
north and south. They are still between a rock and a hard place. I am
witness, they do a professional and a good job, with little fanfare or
support. They serve and protect, over and over again. Generally without
locking there mandibulars. I do wish the Chief would be gone, he was
complicit in these abusive policies, but I would not give him a dime to hit
the road. Put him on patrol.
