Maybe somebody out there can answer this question:

WHY WAS MINNEAPOLIS PUBLIC LIBRARY DIRECTOR MARY
LAWSON FIRED?

WHY DID MINNEAPOLIS PUBLIC LIBRARY DIRECTOR SUSAN
GOLDBERG KENT LEAVE?

WHY WAS MINNEAPOLIS PUBLIC LIBRARY DIRECTOR JOSEPH
KIMBROUGH DUMPED AS SOON AS HIS LAUNDRY WAS EXAMINED?

Only the Minneapolis Public Library can devise a
scheme amidst acres of empty land, that requires the
current library be torn down before the new library is
built.

Only the Minneapolis Library can devise a scheme to
move a large library twice--spending exorbitant
amounts of rental money and moving expenses--to a
temporary space with less than half the capacity for
every function of the central library.

Only the Minneapolis Library can argue that their
current central library is inefficient, and then try
to design a new library that is going to dramatically
increase staffing needs and operating costs.

Only the Minneapolis Library could have its educated
citizenry arguing about North and South Blocks and
their new "Taj Mahal" Library; while its neediest
citizens seeking knowledge are pulling on locked doors
on Saturday and weeknights at Franklin, Sumner,
Roosevelt, and Hosmer Library. This is true even in
the neighborhood libraries in the wealthiest parts of
Minneapolis.

Only the Minneapolis Public Library could be asking to
make a new architectural statement, while dumping
their beautiful Pillsbury Library, old North Library,
old East Lake Library.

Only the Minneapolis Public Library could be asking to
make an architectural statement, when they fought
historic designation for their beautiful architectural
gems of Franklin, Hosmer, Linden Hills, Sumner, and
Roosevelt Libraries.

Only the MPL could ask for a new architectural
statement, when they've had such contempt and neglect
for their beautiful, historic jewel box neighborhood
libraries.

Only the Minneapolis Public Library could be asking a
money-strapped legislature, to pay for an exorbitantly
priced planetarium--the same legislature who has been
intent on punishing Minneapolis for its wanton waste
and excesses.

WHERE ARE PEOPLE's MORAL COMPASSES ARGUING ABOUT NORTH
AND SOUTH SITES--when a neighborhood library that
serves Phillips, Seward and Cedar Riverside
neighborhood has a l/2 time children's librarian, a
meeting room that was closed, and children's room that
was closed. A neighborhood that has the highest
densities, composed of a wonderfully diverse
population of immigrants and ethnic groups eager for
library services and attention.

Why don't you take a close, critical look at Franklin
Library at the community meeting this Thursday and
Saturday and see what you think?

My best,
