The Southwest Journal has an article on Lydia House, with the focus of the
article being the efforts of the Plymouth Church and the Stevens Square
Community Organization to "break bread" and jointly host monthly
get-togethers:

Kudos to both groups for trying to forge a positive future relationship.

John Cevette responds:

Those with interest in this controversy should read the full article.

Joint undertakings with Plymouth Church are highly controversial. Based on
misrepresentations of neighborhood views the Whittier Alliance Board voted
to screen Plymouth's access to the Whittier Alliance. In a letter to the
Senior Pastor of Plymouth the Whittier Alliance Board Chair asked the church
to recant misinformation sent to its members. As far as I know there is no
response from the church.

While cooperation trumps confrontation, it will take more than a community
dinner to rebuild trust in the church leadership.
